BIOMETRICS Fawaz Alsaade, Aladdin Ariyaeeinia, Amit Malegaonkar, Surosh Pillay University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, UK Abstract A new approach to enhancing the accuracy of multimodal biometrics is investigated. The proposed approach, which involves combining score normalisation and qualitative-based fusion, is shown to considerably improve the accuracy of multimodal biometrics under different data conditions.

Multimodal Person Authentication using Qualitative SVM with Fingerprint, Face and Teeth Modalities
Multimodal biometrics systems are becoming increasingly efficient over the unimodal system, especially for the securing handheld devices. However, the challenge with this authentication system is the relative degradation of the biometric modalities involved in the development and test data respectively. To overcome this problem, in this paper we propose a novel Qualitative Support Vector Machin...
متن کاملComparative Study of Different Fusion Techniques in Multimodal Biometric Authentication
Multimodal biometric authentication resolves no. of issues present in unimodal biometrics. There are number of ways for the fusion of different modalities in multimodal biometrics. Fusion could be either before matching the scores or after matching the score. The presented research paper deals with the comparative study of different techniques which performs fusion of information after matching...
متن کاملOn improving the Performance of Multimodal biometric authentication through Ant colony optimization
Multimodal biometric authentication systems are now widely used for providing the utmost security owing to its better recognition performance compared to unimodal systems. Multimodal biometric systems are developed by combining the information of individual biometrics. In this paper, a multimodal biometric system is proposed by combining the scores of iris and palm print traits of a person. Thi...
متن کاملMultimodal authentication using qualitative support vector machines
This paper proposes an approach to enhancing the accuracy of multimodal biometrics in uncontrolled environments. Variation in operating conditions results in mismatch between the training and test material, and thereby affects the biometric authentication performance regardless of this being unimodal or multimodal. The paper proposes a technique to reduce the effects of such variations in multi...
متن کاملDealing with sensor interoperability in multi-biometrics: The UPM experience at the Biosecure Multimodal Evaluation 2007
Multimodal biometric systems allow to overcome some of the problems presented in unimodal systems, such as non-universality, lack of distinctiveness of the unimodal trait, noise in the acquired data, etc. Integration at the matching score level is the most common approach used due to the ease in combining the scores generated by different unimodal systems. Unfortunately, scores usually lie in a...
